Google Play Store has decided to autoplay the store listing videos starting next month. Users may find this annoying most of the times. Let’s be frank, who will not be annoyed when a sudden sponsored video pops up from nowhere while watching or doing something important on your phone?
This list of annoyance will add up another concern from the next month. Google has announced that it is going to start auto-playing promotional videos on app or game listings.
According to the Google Play Console Help, this feature will be added from next month. A declaration was found regarding this matter in the Promo video section on the ‘Graphic assets, screenshots, & video’ page of Google. Google made it clear that,
Beginning September 2019, Google Play will start autoplaying store listing videos to help more users discover your content at a glance.
In addition to that sponsored adds most likely to be played before the videos. Fortunately, Google has decided not to include them with the videos. According to them, it could be confusing for the users.
Therefore, they have asked the developers to turn off monetization for the promo videos featured on the listing pages by November 1, 2019. The developers must do this before the time limit to keep the video eligible. If the instructions are not followed, the promo videos with ads will not be shown on Google Play Store.
We also hope that Google will come up with an option to disable auto-playing videos in the near future to ease up the process for the users. To conclude, the other platforms have the feature of playing videos silently unless the user decides to turn on the volume. We can always hope for it for less annoyance.
