Google has merged two of its most demanded services for people traveling abroad: Google Translate and Google Maps. Before the end of the month, when we travel to a foreign country and put an address or a place where we want to go, an icon of a loudspeaker will automatically appear, which will translate both the name and the directions to arrive in the local language.
In addition, if we subsequently need to have a conversation in a language other than ours, Google Maps will offer quick and direct access to Google Translate with which users can start translating or talk in their preferred language.
The technology developed by Google can automatically detect our phone’s language and recognize the sites you are looking for to translate them into the local language. If, for example, our phone is configured in English, but we are looking for places of interest in Tokyo, we can access Japanese translation in real time with a single click. In addition to the destination, the directions to get to that place will also be translated.
This new feature will be launched the next month for Android and iOS with support in 50 languages. It is also planned that new languages will be added over time.
This is the second feature that Google adds to its map service. In the past at Google I/O 2019, the company announced the improvement of user privacy with the implementation of the incognito mode in Google Maps that pauses your search activity (such as the places you are looking for or those you browse) to be stored in your Google Account.
