Bad news for Google Trips users. The travel planning application will close on August 5, as Google has advanced on its support page. The app itself has sent a message to users of its latest version confirming its disappearance in the coming months and tells them that their functions will be integrated into other apps of the company.
In addition to saying goodbye, the app calls for other Google products, in a clear reference to the travel planning service recently launched on google.com. Google Maps, meanwhile, has also introduced a series of features related to travel, which allow the user to continue looking for emblematic places of the city to which they are going, as well as activities to do in the place and the exact situation in which they are.
The closing of Google Trips should not come as a surprise: Google has already avoided mentioning the app when it announced the new website, much like the travel app. The numbers, in addition, are not very promising: the count of downloads in Play Store remains in the group of 5 to 10 million, a fairly low figure compared to other Google apps. The number of daily users of the app, on the other hand, is also quite poor.
The new website could provide certain benefits when planning and scheduling trips. It is true that the application offered many advantages for users, such as convenience and being able to use it without the need to have an active data connection.
For the moment, as announced by Google, and until August 5, users can continue to access all travel reservations and notes, as well as continue sending them by mail normally.
In Google Maps, new functions have already been integrated to find a hotel, places to visit, hotel reservations, etc. And in the Google search engine, we can find popular places in the city to which the user will go or find what activities can be done, as well as to manage all travel reservations in a personalized way.
