Google Workspace which has been launched after the G Suite, will be launched with many new features in security, privacy and compliance. Microsoft 365 will have a tougher competition from Google Workspace as they are also improving on the security and the other associated features just like Microsoft.
Data Protection Insights is one of the new things introduced whose service will be available from the next week. This feature utilizes the organization of information and determines the protection of the same data, of which Visibility is an important aspect.
The user /administrator can check the type and amount of stored data, calculating the percentage of externally shared files. The admin can also hinder the access of certain types of files and data in the system.
There will be a new designing of the page of Rules which will make the handling and managing of rules and policy faster and easier. Customizable templates to develop basic policies easily by any company will be done by Google.
Google would also launch the ‘Google Verified’ stamp for managing third-party apps securely. The app developers need to meet minimum privacy protocols and ensure security. The stamped apps can thus be given access to the data securely.
The abuse of Google Meet and Google Chat services will be prevented whereby users with derogatory user names shall be denied access. They will be thrown out and cannot join further meetings.
New logging and detection features can be accessed by the admins. The logs will enable them better access to solve problems. Suspicious behavior in the Workplace will also be taken care of strictly. Data exfiltration, phishing will be taken care of.
For sometime auto-forwarding by people beyond the domain of the company is being detected by Google and this accessible version of Insider Threat Protection, Compliance Manager, and Microsoft Defender ATP will enable greater user-friendliness. ISO / IEC 27701 certificate has been awarded to Workspace.
