If you are a Google app fan, you will know that Google started the Neighbourly app in 2018. Well, sadly, they are rolling it back.
Yes, the Google Neighbourly app soon vanishes from the sight of its users. Google has supported this act by saying that.
“We launched Neighbourly as a Beta app to connect you with your neighbors and make sharing local information more human and helpful. As a community, you’ve come together to celebrate local festivals, shared crucial information during floods, and answered over a million questions. But Neighbourly hasn’t grown as we had hoped. In these difficult times, we believe that we can help more people by focusing on other Google apps that are already serving millions of people every day. “
Thereby it is clear that although this app was created to help people explore more about their locality with the help of local experts, it did not suffice its purpose. It began in Mumbai and then spread to other cities as well. But Google has mailed its users mentioning how they helped their community to grow, but this wasn’t enough as was expected out of this app. Hence they are ready to shut this app.
So by May 12th, this app will stop providing major services, but you can still download the neighborly content until October 12th. But along with this, Google has ideas to focus on other apps to provide services to the communities. By this, Google is trying to enact on Google Maps Local Guide.
Well, it is indeed interesting that the Neighborly app is being shut down just when Facebook brought out its Community Help feature to help people during the COVID-19 outbreak.
