Recently, the state leaders and developers of Hawaii celebrated the completion of the largest block of grid-scale solar power. As it was reported, the Clearway Energy Group has already started the projects in Kawailoa, Waipio and Mililani.
The Hawaii Solar project combines more than 800,000 solar panels that will produce up to 110 megawatts of clean energy per day. The authorities plan to feed the power into the Hawaiian Electric grid. They hope that this energy is enough to power about 18,000 homes in Oahu each year.
The Kawailoa Solar project is the largest solar project in the state to date. It uses nearly half a million solar panels and produces nearly 49 MW energy. The project is located at the former sugar cane land owned by Kamehameha Schools.
The Waipio Solar project consists of over 160,000 panels which produce 45.9 MV energy. This is located at the former cattle pasture owned by Clearway in Central O’ahu. Lastly, the Mililani Solar II project includes over 150,000 solar panels that produce nearly 14.7 MW energy. This particular site is located at the former pineapple land owned by Clearway.

To complete its dream project, Clearway has entered into a partnership with the Hawaiian Electric Company, Kamehameha Schools, Moss Solar, and others. They are hopeful that they can replace Hawaii with 100% renewable energy by 2045 with the help of these three grid-scale solar power projects on the island of Oahu.
It’s satisfying to see these projects completed after such a long journey. The Hawaii Solar Project is certainly a great initiative taken by Clearway and Hawaii to save up the non- renewable energies. We hope it gets success and inspires other countries to convert to renewable energy for a better future.
