Chinese smartphone manufacturers are booming in Europe. Last year both Huawei and Xiaomi were among the Top 5 best-selling smartphone brands in Europe. Also, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus make great strides and put one at innovative smartphones in the market. Another Chinese manufacturer that has been selling smartphones in the Netherlands since the beginning of last year is HiSense.
The company does not produce truly striking smartphones, while HiSense mainly serves the bottom of the market. However, there are also some unique models in the portfolio, such as the HiSense A2 with dual display. However, this mobile phone is not available in the Netherlands.
Halfway through last year, the first HiSense smartphone with a notch was introduced, the HiSense H12 series. A recently published design patent shows that the Chinese manufacturer may intend to renew its smartphone design.
In order to create an extra distinctive character, HiSense has provided the smartphone with a hexagon design. In other words, the housing runs in the middle, at the top and bottom of the device, to a point similar to a Meitu smartphone, although HiSense seems to opt for a slightly more modest point.
HiSense smartphone with a renewed design
On February 12, 2019, a patent was published in the Global Design Database by HiSense Mobile Communication Technology from Qingdao. The design patent includes a summary description, but the images speak for themselves. In addition to sketches, renders have also been added to the patent, which show the phone from all sides.
At the front, the HiSense smartphone has a wide notch, similar to the X-Infinity display used for the H12 series. Probably it is also a comparable camera with face recognition. At the rear, we see a double camera, but it is not vertical but horizontally situated.
The cameras are remarkably high in housing. An LED flash has been placed directly next to it. The fingerprint scanner can also be found on the back. At the bottom, apart from a USB Type-C connection, we also see a headphone connection.
HiSense will be present at MWC 2019 as by far the most smartphone manufacturer. Last year, the Chinese manufacturer introduced five new telephone models before the exhibition started. Which devices we expect this year remains a surprise, possibly because this new design is also included.
HiSense also indicated last year that the company would introduce its first 5G smartphones in 2019. However, these mobile phones are expected later in the year.
