HMD Global has announced that the Android 8.0 Oreo update will soon be made available for Nokia 8, Nokia 7, and Nokia 6. As of now, they are releasing the Vanilla Oreo update for the original Nokia 6 and the Nokia 5.
Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer, has just confirmed it on Twitter today. According to him, the additional feature-set of the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Android Oreo update would make both of these two mid-range devices “sweeter and smoother”. Sarvikas also said that the entire procedure would be phased in order to “secure quality delivery”. Both of these two phones have already been through a beta program. So the users expect it to not take too long to receive the update.
Screenshots of the OTA update, carrying the build number V5.220, have already been shared by some Nokia 6 (TA 1021) users in India. The update is a little over 1.8 GB and contains features like the Picture-in-Picture mode, app notification dots, security improvements, and the January Android security patches.
HMD Global is known to be quite good when it is to manage the Android roster on a regular basis. The confirmation of the Oreo beta for the Nokia 3 being “around the corner” was announced yesterday. The Nokia 8, on the other hand, according to the latest news, will run on an 8.1 Oreo beta. Nokia 2, though, is expected to get access to Android 8.1 Oreo and further down the line.
