The last time HoloLens received a major software update, was mid-2016. It was the Windows 10-anniversary update. However, Microsoft received two more software updates after that, titled Creators Update and Fall Creators Update; HoloLens didn’t receive any update. Microsoft didn’t publish any kind of explanation as well.
But today, Microsoft has come up with an official announcement declaring that the next update for HoloLens will be released in the early part of next year alongside Windows 10 Redstone 4. This new software update is expected to come with new features and changes for developers and businesses.
The Insiders and the developers in possession of HoloLens devices can, of course, look forward to new APIs, features, and functions.
Microsoft was quoted, “We are also working to bring some of the most asked for software updates for HoloLens to our existing customers. We are committed to delivering an update to existing customers sometime early next year.”
It’s quite unclear though, whether Microsoft is planning to exploit the HoloLens Insider Program, which hasn’t seen a new Insider build in over a year.
The Windows Mixed Reality platform will officially ensure that the new software update to HoloLens is beneficial strictly for developers.
