Last month, George Zhao, The CEO of the Chinese mobile company Honor, affirmed the news that the company will be releasing an Android 8.0 Oreo update for its versions, Honor 8, and Honor 8 Pro. But, an Honor 8 user’s query regarding the arrival of Android 8.0 Oreo revealed that the company wouldn’t be releasing its Oreo update.
Honor India states that “hardware and software limitations, Honor 8 will be unable to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update.”
But, the company has not yet given the official word for it. So, in all possibilities, this statement could very well be a common case of misinformation provided by a social media representative. Therefore, users are strongly advised to wait for an official statement and not jump to misguided conclusions.
Back in December 2017, the Android 8.0 Oreo along with EMUI 8.0 was made available for the Huawei versions Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, and the Oreo EMUI 8.O update was also enabled to the Honor versions 9 and Honor V9 Pro.
The update is slated to soon be available for other handsets like Honor 8 Pro, Lite and 7X. Furthermore, Zhao also stated last month that “some other Honor smartphones” will be worked on along with Android Oreo, keeping the names unspecified. Reports have claimed that the firm may launch its Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 6.0 by October 2018 and that over a dozen handsets will get to test run it.
If floating news by unverified social representatives are to be believed, some of the Huawei devices that are expected to get the Android 8.0 Oreo update are: Honor 8, P10 Plus, P10, P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite, Honor Magic, Mate 8, Honor 8 Pro, Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro max, Honor 6P, Honor V8, and so on. But without any official confirmation, one cannot be sure of the validity of the information. For all the Honor enthusiasts out there, what’s to be done at best is to wait and watch.
