The Honor band 5i has a lot to offer as a fitness band. The most remarkable feature of the band has to be the inclusion of the Sp02 sensor. Even though the sensor was also a part of the previous Honor Band 5, the Sp02 sensor was activated only for China.
Honor tweeted on 24th January 2020 that its latest Honor Band 5i will soon have the Sp02 sensor. According to Honor, the sensor will be available via the OTA update, which will drop next month.
Sp02 sensors are specifically designed to monitor blood oxygen levels during and after exercise. Furthermore, it makes sure that enough oxygen is flowing to the muscles. The Sp02 sensor measures the hemoglobin level in blood.
Any reading above 90% is considered to be healthy. This, however, does not mean that the fitness band could be used as a medical check-up replacement. Far from that, a medical checkup might be needed to check the exact oxygen level in blood.
As mentioned above, the Sp02 sensor has been a part of the Honor Band 5, although it was available only in China. The Huawei Health app does not show the results yet, so in order to know the reading, the user needs to run the test. Furthermore, the user also needs to tighten the band and stay still for some time for the fitness band to take the measurements.
Huawei is not the only company that rolled out a fitness band with the capacity to measure the oxygen level in blood. Notably, the fitness bands manufactured by Fitbit are also capable of doing that.
The Honor band 5i fitness band was released in October 2019 in India. It comes in three color variants: Meteorite Black, Coral Powder, and Olive Green. The band is available for purchase on Honor stores and online, and the pricing starts at Rs. 3882.
