Honor has finally launched its much-awaited Magic Vs foldable smartphone in the international market to take on rivals Apple and Samsung. The new phone, combined with the cutting-edge single-piece casting method, is priced at nearly $1,700.
George Zhao, Honor’s CEO, revealed that the company is looking to tap the high-end market, which is currently being dominated by Apple and Samsung.
“Our ambition is to do things better for today and in future, we have the target to satisfy our customer. And also how to build trust and relationships with our partners. And these two things, if we make this healthy, then the growth, the target, the sales number will come to us automatically.”

Honor made a mark at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona this week. The Chinese company showcased its technology right next to Samsung’s exhibition. The 6.45-inch, slightly curved external screen has a comfortable 21:9 aspect ratio. It allows the device to fit perfectly into the user’s hand. Moreover, the new generation of screen focusing technology has improved brightness by 20 percent while reducing 10 percent of power consumption – ensuring clarity in strong outdoor light.
The change in the color temperature of the screen matches the secretion of melatonin in the human body. According to its official portal, the smartphone avoids interfering with the normal secretion of melatonin in the human body at night and ensures the quality of sleep. Honor Magic Vs. boasts of having pioneered the application of the “Dynamic Dimming Screen” technology, which simulates the dynamic change of natural light.
It can reduce eye fatigue by promoting blood circulation with intelligent rhythmic light technology. The smartphone can reduce eye fatigue by about 18 percent in 45 minutes in stable light.

Zhao said Honor strives to develop the best foldable phones and to be the number one technology for foldable phones. He also acknowledged the challenges that come with it, including the weight and battery life. Zhao highlighted that the Magic Vs folds like a book and said Samsung and Oppo have smartphones that fold upward like a traditional flip phone. Honor is seriously considering it.
