Honor has announced another device to the Play Series, the Honor Play5 Youth. Honor had first launched the Play5 5G smartphone back in May 2021, and the smartphone came with Dimensity 800U SoC. The new Honor Play5 Youth will run on Dimensity 900 SoC, and it comes with Android 11 based Magic UI 4.2 out of the box.
Honor Play5 Youth features a 6.67-inch of Full HD+ display, and its refresh rate is clocked at 120Hz; moreover, the display supports DCI-P3 coverage. The upper-left corner of the screen comes with a pill-shaped hole that houses a selfie camera of 16MP. Some experts do believe that Honor, for this smartphone, should have gone with a punch-hole design especially because the selfie camera on the smartphone does not come with a flash module or even a second selfie camera.
The rear-end design of the smartphone is quite interesting. The back of the smartphone features a center-aligned squircle-shaped island that comes with four circles; however, not all of the circles house a camera within the module. Out of the four circles, only two of them house the primary back cameras. The dual-camera module consists of a 64MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. The third circle features an LED flash that accompanies the dual-camera, and the fourth circle has been placed there solely for design purposes.
The Play5 Youth runs on a 4300mAh battery which supports a 66W charger through a USB-C port. The company claims that the bundled 66W charger can charge the phone up to 50% in just 15 minutes. The Honor Play5 Youth comes with GPU Turbo X, features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, supports 5G networks, and has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Honor is offering the new device in two colors: Blue and Black, and in two storage variants: 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. The 8GB+128GB variant is priced at CNY1799 and the 8GB+256GB is priced at CNY1999. The sale for the smartphone starts on November 1.
