HP’s Chrome OS Powered Detachable Tablet, the HP Chromebook X2 Hits the Market

Following Acer’s unveiling of the first-ever Chrome OS-powered Tablet PC, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10, priced at $329,  now HP has brought out its detachable addition to the genre, HP Chromebook X2, priced at $599.

The HP Chromebook X2 comes with a 7th generation Intel Core M3-7Y30 processor, Intel HD Graphics 615 integrated graphics, 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR3-1600 SDRAM, paired with 32GB of eMMC storage. Its 12.3-inch 2400×1600 IPS WLED-backlit touchscreen display is reinforced by a premium-designed ceramic white anodized aluminum finish and a leather-like surface in Oxford Blue on the detachable full-sized metal-based keyboard.

With a 13MP rear camera, a wide vision 5MP front-facing camera, Intel 802.11ac Wi-Fi (2×2), and Bluetooth 4.2, it’s quite a SuperTab. Its B&O Play enhanced speakers, full-size island-style keyboard, an active-gesture supporting touchpad – you name it, and the HP Chromebook X2 has it. The HP Active Pen is available in-box.

For the brand-savvy, other detachable Chromebooks are currently under development, such as the Samsung Nautilus, ‘soraka’, and ‘poppy’ detachable Chromebooks. Based on its consumer-friendly getup and specifications, the performance of the HP Chromebook X2 may serve to intensify the market for the Chrome OS ecosystem.
