Today via its official Facebook page, HTC announced that its new smartphone, U11 EYEs is all set to officially launch on January 15 in Taipei, Beijing, and Hong Kong. Bearing the main theme ‘EYEs,’ it is a mid-range smartphone with a pressure-sensitive frame. The famous phone leaker Evan Blass tweeted the major features of the device last night.
According to the tweet, the HTC U11 EYEs official launch showcases a 6-inch FHD display with a Super LCD3 screen providing 1080 x 2160 resolutions. The processor that powers the phone is Snapdragon 652 octa-core. It further packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, and there is a MicroSD slot for expansion, although the limit is yet unknown.
This new smartphone of HTC has IP67 certification to be water and dust-resistant. Running on Android Nougat (likely to have space for upgrading to Oreo), it has a 3,930mAh battery and a USB-C port. It is available in the color variants red, black, and silver.
That’s not all yet, folks! The phone’s highlight is the Edge Sense feature unveiled in May last year, right after the phone was announced. If you missed it, the feature lets you squeeze the sides of the phone to interact differently with it. In simpler words, you can easily access your frequently used apps via creating shortcuts, typing with your voice, and even can capture screenshots.
Now, squeezing the phone may seem a bit weird, but it is basically quite intuitive, and testers have already reported that they are enjoying the feature. Additionally, you can even use the feature when underwater (remember the IP67 certification)! By default, the phone launches the camera, HTC U11 most likely has a dual camera setup with one squeeze, and the second squeeze will even take a snap!
Price and other details are yet unknown, but we are on our toes to serve you with any related updates as soon as we receive them.
