It is reported today that the Chinese technology giant, Huawei Technologies has set up a new firm with a business scope that added auto parts research and development; engineering and technology research, and test development.

With a registered capital of 200 million yuan, the company was founded in January 2001. According to data provider Qichacha, the technology giant owns 100% of the corporation.

Huawei has consistently said that it will not manufacture automobiles, according to sources. In January of this year, Huawei’s smart car solution’s BU COO, Wang Jun, reiterated that Huawei does not manufacture cars. “At our core, we assist firms in producing high-quality automobiles.”

Then, the Chinese technology giant stated in a statement that: “The industry needs is not Huawei-branded cars, but Huawei’s ICT technology capabilities accumulated over three decades in order to help car companies build future-proof cars. That is, we provide car companies with Huawei-based ICT capabilities for smart connected car components.”

It’s worth noting that the rumor that Volkswagen was considering buying Huawei’s autonomous driving section for one billion euros surfaced again in February this year, with no official confirmation yet.

Huawei’s R&D in electric vehicle power and further march into the automotive market will be ushered in with the formation of the new company. Huawei has registered a lot of automotive-related patents, amassed technologies in autonomous driving, and filed a huge number of patent applications since 2021.

Reports have also revealed today that the Chinese tech giant has applied for the registration of a number of “5Green” and “5Gigaverse” trademarks. The international classification involves scientific instruments and communication services.

Huawei recently suggested giving a ubiquitous 5Gigaverse experience, as well as a high-quality experience while supporting the 5Green aim of being environmentally friendly and low-carbon.

Huawei’s 5Green solution won the GTI Awards “Mobile Technology Innovation Breakthrough Award” and “Excellence Award” at MWC22 Barcelona.

At the event the Vice President of Huawei’s SingleRAN Product Line, Devin Duan, his speech titled: “5Green — Building Networks with Optimal Performance and Energy Saving,” said:

“Huawei will continue to explore and innovate in energy conservation and carbon reduction, so as to build a solid foundation for green development both in and beyond the telecom industry,”

“We call on the industry to jointly develop networks that excel in both performance and energy saving. This will accelerate the application of 5G in industries, which will move us closer to a low-carbon society.” He concluded.
