Huawei has reportedly developed the HUAWEI HiAI 3.0, an open platform for AI terminals.
At the Software Green Alliance Conference 2019 held on November 19, Huawei officially released the HUAWEI HiAI 3.0 which succeeds in the HiAI 2.0 that was released in 2018.
It functions of the basis of a three-tier open system of ‘core, end, and cloud’, that is, open chip capabilities, open application capabilities, and open service capabilities.
Its primary goal is to provide developers with Huawei’s powerful AI capabilities.
With HiAI 2.0, the Huawei HiAI platform boasts of over 1 million developers and more than 4,000 partners.
HiAI has been able to bring about momentous changes to the AI industry by providing the infrastructure necessary for new innovations and thereby providing more experience alongside better efficacy, and reducing the initial cost of applications by large. – Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei Consumer Business Software.
HiAI 2.0 played a significant role in developing multiple-device AI applications.
Wang Chenglu added that the HiAI 2.0 had helped the HiAI platform to garner over 4500 applications and atomization services, with the number of daily users being somewhere close to 100 million.
With the HUAWEI HiAI 3.0, the Chinese multinational technology company seeks to expand the scope of innovation and AI development in order to provide more to their customers.
Huawei HiAI 3.0 makes use of the latest Kirin chips for efficiency, swift calculations and powerful performance that can assist developers to enhance AI capabilities without worrying about the underlying computing power.
The HiAI 3.0 comes with 3 engines: natural language understanding (NLU), automatic speech recognition (ASR), and computer vision (CV), alongside which it features multiple API interfaces such as handwriting recognition and dynamic gesture recognition.
Coming with support for multi-modal and multi-end deployment, the HiAI service will be enhanced.
Following are the few areas that HiAI 3.0 plans to bring about change in:
1. Health and education at home
HUAWEI HiAI 3.0 features distributed computer vision (CV) and speech recognition (ASR) technology. The former performs 3D human keypoint recognition through multiple cameras to receive motion and gestures in real-time, and can even provide the correct gestures in case the user is performing them wrong.
Automated speech recognition (ASR) would provide further expertise to the experience.
2. Assistance during driving
By connecting the smartphone to the car, the HiAI3.0 can monitor the user’s driving through the camera and even provide security reminders for potentially dangerous behaviors such as fatigue driving.
3. Providing consistent service across multiple terminals
In the future, with the development of the 5G network, more innovative applications are anticipated.
Furthermore, at the press conference, numerous well-known companies the likes of Baidu Flying Paddle, Ali MNN, Daily Yoga, Xiaoyi Vision, and Bright Vision interacted with Huawei and discussed matters such as sports, health, education, public service, and software application. This might indicate that there is a possibility of a partnership between Huawei and these companies in the near future.
