After the success of the high-end MediaPad M5 Android tablet series, Huawei is launching the third tablet to kind of fall in between the 8.4-inch MediaPad M5 and the 10.8-inch MediaPad M5 Pro. The new release is called M5 Lite and features an aluminum unibody build with a 10.1-inch screen.
The tablet sports a Full HD+ screen resolution of 1920×1200 pixels with a sports display aspect of 16:10 and 2.5D glass on the front. Coming to the working of the tab, it is run by a rather outdated 64-bit Kirin 659 octa-core processor programmed at 2.4GHz.
The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 skin on top. The launch offers two variants, one with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage, and the other comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. There’s also a slot for a microSD card for further expansion of storage space.
The tablet is powered by a whopping 7,500 mAh non-removable battery, which gives the device fairly long battery life. The device also enables 9V/2A fast charging. The Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite packs with it an M-pen stylus supporting up to 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity, depending on your region.
The tablet has an 8MP autofocus camera at the back and an 8MP camera on the front. As far connectivity is concerned, Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite includes 4G LTE (though optional), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and comes with a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C port.
But the most exciting thing about the launched product is the quad speaker setup that is powered to give the best audio experience to the users. Huawei claims the speakers to be tuned by Harman Kardon featuring the company’s Histen 5.0 sound system. Given the battery life and audio quality, the tab sounds perfect for watching a movie. Huawei has released the M5 Lite in two color variants: Champagne Gold and Space Grey. There are however quite a lot of questions regarding when the device will be launched in India.
