MWC 2019, the world’s largest technology exhibition, where Chinese smartphone giant Huawei joined other tech companies under the theme “Building a Fully Connected, Intelligent World.” Huawei has launched four new flagship products and solutions at the MWC19: the Huawei Mate X, the Huawei MateBook X Pro (2019 edition), the OceanStor Dorado3000 V3 entry-level all-flash storage system, and the OceanStor Dorado Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) mid-range and high-end all-flash storage.
The Huawei Mate X is the company’s own foldable phone with an 8-inch fold-out display, and Huawei describes this model as ‘the world’s fastest foldable phone.
The Huawei MateBook X Pro is just an improved version of its predecessor, with increased power and performance capability.
Now, discussing the OceanStor Dorado3000 V3 and the OceanStor Dorado Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe), their outstanding performance, thorough enterprise-class features, and immense efficiency are to be underlined. NVMe facilitates swift communication between SSD and host system and attempting an acute latency reduction. Huawei’s OceanStor Dorado mid-range and high-end all-flash storage systems have succeeded in bringing about an industry-leading 0.3-millisecond latency.
Being up to the mark with regards to the demands of the database, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Virtual Server Infrastructure (VSI), these storage systems will aid the entry of customer data centers of finance, manufacturing, and telecommunications sectors into the times of all-flash. All-flash storage systems would help enterprises meet their ever-evolving, fast-paced business requirements.
By using Huawei’s anti-wear leveling and global wear-leveling technologies, the OceanStor Dorado3000 V3 provides powerful Solid-State Drive (SSD) dependability and security. The innovative RAID-TP technology has the tolerance capacity of three simultaneous SSD failures.
Cloud-enabled gateway-free Disaster Recovery (DR) and backup, along with minute-level service recovery on the cloud, are enabled by Converged Data Management (CDM) solution. Almost 99.9% availability of high service is ensured thanks to the gateway-free active-active solution and various reliability protection technologies.
The prominent FlashLink® technology is put to the most efficient use by the OceanStor Dorado3000 V3, which would ensure stable performance even during peak hours. It comprises 32 Gbit/s FC, and 100GE front-end protocols, and the CPU, memory, and various other components are regulated by Huawei’s Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). These would help reduce fault recovery time from a couple of hours to around 10 minutes.
Supporting inline deduplication and compression technologies that can help cut the costs of energy consumption, cooling, maintenance and management, the OceanStor Dorado3000 V3 causes over 65 percent reduction in OPEX, which would allow reduction of costs during extensive usage of devices.
Huawei has 17 years of R&D experience in storage technologies. We have used this extensive experience to develop the entry-level OceanStor Dorado3000 V3, enabling enterprises to benefit from an all-flash platform at a low entry point without sacrificing performance and scalability. We have leveraged all-flash storage to help customers in many industries build efficient data storage capabilities and will continue to innovate to meet their ever-increasing storage requirements. – William Dong, Director of Enterprise Data Center Marketing & Solution Sales Department, Huawei Enterprise Business Group
Moreover, there would be no need to modify existing services when the compatibility of the OceanStor Dorado3000 V3 includes over 300 mainstream storage devices along with most IT infrastructure, thereby resulting in a smoother upgrade, simplified O&M and expedited data center transformation.
