Huawei’s agenda for this year has been to work on its 1 + 8 + N, where 1 is the smartphone lineup, 8 includes various gadgets such as PCs, tablets, laptops, speakers, etc., and the N stands for the company’s newfound expanding branch of IoT. Recently, the Chinese company filed for a new patent for a new smart speaker at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The design that the company filed the patent with is somewhat not conventional. The smart speaker comes with an oval design, and the top portion is slightly bent upwards in a triangle. On the side of the speaker, there is a power button and the volume controls.
The smart speaker also features a Bluetooth and a circular button which might be used to change tracks. The left side of the speaker features a USB port for charging it. It might also have support for a microSD card.
The smart speaker will likely have the voice assistant support, Celia. Huawei had launched the Celia voice assistant along with the P40 series. More details are yet to be revealed.
However, as mentioned above, since the company is still looking into expanding its IoT, the smart speaker too might come off as its extension and support some of its features. More details about this speaker are yet to surface but we can expect all the general specs that a smart speaker usually has.
It is not clear yet when the smart speaker will hit the market as the smart speaker is in its developing stages, and Huawei has not mentioned any details regarding the release.
The patent only has been released and Huawei still has a long way to go. A few reports mention that the upcoming smart speaker might be an affordable smart speaker for the company.
