Chinese tech major is planning to bring Huawei Watch 2 (2018) after the success of the first edition, which was released in 2017. Noted tipster Evan Blass tweeted the latest version of the wear on Twitter. It, running the Wear OS out of the box, is the refreshed version of its predecessor powered by Android Wear 2.0 as the OS.

Huawei Watch 2 (2018) was shared by Evan Blass earlier today, May 14. It is running the Wear OS out of the box, is the refreshed version of the same device that was released in 2017 with Android Wear 2.0 as the OS.

Except for the differences in OS and new color options for the 2018 variant, both models have similar specs. Therefore, Huawei Watch 2 (2018) will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100, featuring 768 MB RAM. It also comes with 4GB storage and a 420mAh battery.

Furthermore, the wearable offers a circular 1.2-inch AMOLED display that supports 390 x 390 pixels with an image density of 326ppi. Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, eSIM-enabled cellular activity and Wi-Fi (b/g/n) are supported.

Among other features, the device packs a heart monitor, barometer, gyroscope, accelerometer, and ambient light sensor. It will be IP68-certified to be dust-resistance and will also receive a certain degree of water submersion.

Presently in development, there’s no release timeline yet. It may come to the stores by late this year. As for features, there was no mention of NFC by the source. The new system-on-chip of Qualcomm is also to release by late 2018.

In case of color options, the strap is likely to come in orange and green, as known so far. We will have to wait for official confirmations from Huawei that might throw more light on this.

The company has recently talked about its Huawei Watch 3, but the source of the renders has confirmed that the device is more of the Watch 2 (2018) than a new Watch 3.

The Wear OS update will be reaching the 2017 variant of the Huawei Watch 2 in the coming weeks.
