Microsoft, the Bill-founded American Multinational Corporation and Technology company, announced a new category of devices in May named the Copilot+ PC. These PCs are claimed to be the fastest and the most intelligent Windows PC to ever exist. They include new silicon with NPUs that can run 40+ TOPS, offer all-day battery life, and are said to deliver breakthrough AI experiences. As the most significant change to Windows in decades, this reimagining of the PC puts AI at its core.
IFA, the annual Berlin-based electronics tradeshow featured Copilot+ PCs at the center with Microsoft’s partners, including Qualcomm. Qualcomm made a major announcement ahead of this event where it introduced its Snapdragon X Plus 8-core platform, which is powered by an 8-core Qualcomm Oryon CPU for advanced responsiveness and efficiency.
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon announced the expansion of the Snapdragon X Series portfolio ahead of IFA, enabling OEMs to offer Copilot+ PCs for $700 to $900. In thin and light PCs, the Snapdragon X Plus 8-core maintains leading performance with its Qualcomm Oryon CPU and best-in-class power efficiency, giving users responsive performance and a multi-day battery life.
With a 45 TOPS NPU, Copilot+ will now be available on more devices for consumers and enterprises alike, enabling groundbreaking on-device AI experiences. Acer, ASUS, Dell Technologies, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung will all offer Snapdragon X Plus 8-core devices beginning today.
The new Snapdragon platform has an integrated GPU that can support up to three external monitors and shall provide a leading performance per watt which when paired with the platform’s advancement in connectivity, has the potential to reach new heights of productivity especially when it comes to the creation of presentations, video streaming and others.
