Amidst the corona pandemic and the countries being under lockdown, work has come to standstill more or less. Whereas some of the big companies can sustain itself and its employees by giving them the ‘work from home’ options, the local and small businesses are taking a massive economical hit.

It is continuously becoming difficult for small local businesses to keep up with their sales. Numerous platforms, both charity and social media platforms are taking initiatives that will help those small businesses to survive by offering them monetary help through its users.

To help the small business owners, now Facebook-owned Instagram took a step forward. Instagram is the best place for small businesses or even artists to flourish. They can showcase their artworks or even their business on the online platform and gain momentum business-wise.

The app is working on an update called ‘support’ that will come in the form of a sticker “encouraging users to buy gift cards or donate to the businesses that they want to support, especially during this difficult time.” Jane Manchung Wong who reverse engineers app for hidden features tweeted about this new feature.

Users who want to support the local small businesses can choose to send them a gift card via PayPal or some other modes. In India apps like Zomato, are also doing their part during this pandemic. Zomato has launched Feed the Poor campaign and the money donated will go to the poor families.

Instagram features do not end there. Furthermore, the app is also working on adding the video call support for the direct messages list. It seems fitting that Instagram will push this feature since all the other messaging apps or social media platforms already have this feature. The app developers are also working on a beige screen flashlight color. It is more natural-looking and less clinical.
