A new change was announced for the photo-sharing app Instagram at Facebook’s F8 event last month. Now the new change is already making its way towards the users. Facebook-owned Instagram announced that they will change the Explore tab. The change that they announced is more like a redesign of the entire Explore Tab.
The Instagram redesigned Explore tab is not entirely different on the surface. The search option or the Explore tab will remain the same as in it will show the users posts which are based on their own past interests and past behaviors or the kind of accounts which they follow. Instagram Explore tab will remain the same tile-based interface. The only distinction between the old Explore tab and the new one is that the updated will have new topic channels along the top.
These new topic channels will focus on a variety of different areas like sports, TV and movies, and much more. This new update obviously reminds everyone of the “Trending” section of Facebook which used to display news based on different areas but now Facebook only displays ads based on the user’s search. There is also a new “For You” option which will show the users a collection of curated posts from other users but that too will be based on that user’s interests and past behaviors.
Along with this change at the F8 last month, Instagram had also announced that they will make available video chat and group video chat for Instagram and that the users will be able to continue browsing the app while on the call. But these features are yet to take shape. The new redesigned Instagram Explore tab is a rather slow rollout and not all of the Insta users have received the update as of yet. It could take a few more days to fully roll out.
