Instagram has hit a new milestone – the photo-sharing app now has 500 million users with 300 million daily active users. The rise of the Facebook-owned social media app has doubled monthly users in just two years.
Since the app primarily focuses on photos shared by the users transpiring language barrier is one of the main reasons behind the growth of its user base. In a blog post, the company states that more than 80% of users are from outside of the United States and has become very popular in countries like Japan, Germany, France, and Indonesia.

In December 2010, the company had only 1 million users, and by the end of 2015, it was 400 million, i.e., last year 100 million more users started using the platform. This year Instagram has added an account switch feature where users can add up to 5 accounts in a single app and launched a brand new logo along with the revamped design.
