Instagram Removed From Microsoft Store and is No Longer a Part of Windows 10 Mobile

Recently, Microsoft’s online marketplace has put an end to the Instagram app for the Windows 10 Mobile platform. This means that users won’t be able to access the Instagram app through their phone from now on, although the desktop version is still there.

Instagram is a photo and video sharing networking service that was launched exclusively for iOS in the month of October 2010. Later in the year 2016, the Instagram Windows 10 Mobile version was also got released. The Windows 10 Mobile, released in 2015, never gained as much popularity as the other Windows Mobile version.

In fact, the situation got even worse because since last October, no upgradation had been done to the OS, and the third-party app support had been kept on hold. Though the app’s PC version can still be seen in the store, right under the download button, a message has been displayed saying, “app does not work on your device”, in case you try to download it from your Windows phone having the 10 Mobile version.

There is no official announcement why Instagram suddenly took this decision to leave the particular version. Interestingly, Facebook, the app’s parent company, has remained silent till now about this issue. However, it’s not totally a dead end for those Insta users out there. They can still access it by going to the official website from Edge browsers.
