Instagram Reels is one of the platform’s most popular features. It was first launched in 2020, and since then, the firm has been adding features to improve the user experience.

Previously, the American photo and video sharing social networking service offered users the option to record 15-second, 30-second, and 60-second long Reels, similar to the TikTok feature.

Then, TikTok allows users to shoot three-minute videos, and this is not the first time that Instagram has adopted a TikTok-developed function. When Instagram Reels were launched, the short videos were just 15 seconds long. TikTok earlier had a 1-minute time limit, but it raised it to 3 minutes in 2021.

However, as we just discovered via a Twitter leak today, the social networking service has officially rolled out 90-second long Reels for user-friendly. @MattNavarra leaked the new features in a tweet stating that Instagram has increased the length of Reels to 90 seconds.

Earlier this year, Alessandro Paluzzi, an app researcher, reported that Instagram is currently testing a 90-second option for Reels but did not disclose a particular date to roll it out.

With this development, users will be very excited to enjoy similar features to TikTok. Although, apart from the vertical feed and short videos, Instagram has continued to imitate TikTok’s features. The Remix feature, which allows you to duet or remix with other Reels, the text-to-speech and voice effects, and Reels replies in comments are just a few of the most popular.

Users can share their reels via direct message, on the story, or to a dedicated space on the Explore page. Instagram Reels might appear on the Explore page, just like TikTok videos, people who don’t even follow you will be able to view your reels. This means that whether you have a large-sized audience or not, your clips can be discovered by the wider community – purely based on engagement.

Reels can be recorded in a sequence of clips one at a time or by uploading videos from your collection. You can record the first clip by pushing and holding the capture button. A progress indicator will appear at the top of the screen as you record. To end each clip, press the record button. Stay connected with Techgenzy for the latest tech news.
