According to certain media reports, Instagram has been testing a new Stories display format in its story feed. In a screenshot shared by social media expert, Matt Navarra, Instagram is shown to be testing a double-story Stories Feed.
The social networking service gave a statement saying that they are trying to find new ways to improve the user experience on the popular social media app.
Instagram hasn’t revealed anything about the range of this testing. We don’t know in which regions they are conducting the test. If they receive a positive response from the users the row of stories might see an increase permanently.
In another related development, reverse engineering analyst Jane Manchun Wong has reported that Instagram is also trying out new ways to seamlessly switch from one story to another. The attempt looks very similar to what we use in the WhatsApp. This development has been confirmed by Instagram.
With a much-increased focus on Stories, it seems like this may be the way to engage with social media in the near future. Instagram looks to shift the main focus of the app from the traditional user feed to an Instagram Stories feed.
Its parent company, Facebook has observed that stories look set to overtake the news feed as the dominant framework for social media engagement. With these developments, there seems to be a great change coming in the usage of social media in the future.
