With the ever-increasing pace of evolution today, the 5G network is the next most significant technology transformation, and we are likely to experience the same soon. As we can tell, this is to provide seamless connectivity, immense computing abilities, and rapid access to the cloud – all together for the first time ever.

This further makes 5G influential in the lifestyle, work, and entertainment aspects of the world. Intel doesn’t want to miss the ideal opportunity in reaching the world via the greatest show on earth – the Olympic Games.

Yesterday, in Seoul, Intel celebrated the 100-day countdown to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. On the course, the company announced its collaboration with KT Corporation for developing the largest 5G showcase of the world at the upcoming Games. KT is to provide the first broad-scale 5G network that will be paired with Intel’s 5G technologies, enabling for all a sequence of immersive experiences based on on-site-5G.

Therefore, the coming Winter Games are to offer an ideal preview for 5G future of Intel, and maybe, of the entire world. There are further collaborations of Intel, not just on technological prospects, but also with Worldwide Olympic Partner sponsorship – to sail things smooth!

As per the experts in the industry, a foundation that includes network, cloud, and client – requires a powerful combination to provide precise and consistent 5G solutions. Intel and KT are aiming to do the same, highlighting Intel’s ‘unique 5G strengths across the mentioned foundation.

Sandra Rivera, the Senior VP and General Manager of Network Platform Groups, Intel, writes in her blog after disclosing the announcement – “I like to think of Intel as the 5G technology standard-bearer, bringing visitors and businesses at the games groundbreaking access to wireless broadband at gigabit speeds, ultra-low latency video distribution, and live-streamed immersive content. This 5G experience will be underpinned by powerful edge and core network computing capabilities powered by Intel high-performance processors.”

At the 2018 Winter Olympics, Intel with KT and Intel’s ecosystem partners together is to showcase the 5G future in Seoul, Gwanghwamoon, and Gangneung Olympic Park – among other Olympic venues in Korea.

Additionally, Intel is to introduce Intel® 5G Mobile Trial Platform and Intel 5G network technologies (including FlexRAN technology), for incorporating the 5G experiences. These will be activated on the network all through the Olympic locations.

On a closing note, the Olympics are known to come up with a platform for ‘testing the limits of human performances.’ As Sandra assertively sees, Intel looks to add to the same in terms of technology and innovation. She finishes quite expressively, “I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of Intel and our goal to push the boundaries of technology through this groundbreaking industry collaboration and illustration of the transformational power of 5G.”
