Yesterday, Intel announced chief data center storage progresses, re-establishing the company’s leadership in memory. Intel’s new technologies aim at developments in data center storage. At the same time, these deliver innovative solutions for countering risks concerned with growing data.
Following are the new technologies:
- ‘Ruler’ Form Factor for Intel SSDs – It is an entirely new state drive form factor with solid built. It enables up to 1PB of storage, which can be reserved in a 1U server rack for future usage.
- Intel Optane Technology – It showcases the world’s most advanced dual port profile. Dual port SSDs of both Optane and 3D Nand serve for mission-critical applications.
- Intel is also targeting the replacement of the concept of HDD. The company’s updated SATA family of SSDs for the data center serves the same.

‘Ruler’ Form Factor of Intel’s new technologies
It gets such a name for its long and skinny shape. It works with PCIe card slots, delivering non-volatile storage in eliminating constraints on shape and size. This enhances storage capacity on a server while delivering according to the lowest power and cooling needs.
The next-gen Ruler form factor SSDs, packing Intel’s 3D NAND technology, will lead storage capacity up to 1PB in a 1U server. As a result, this guarantees about 300,000 HD movies or approximately 70 years of unending entertainment. Both Optane and NAND in the Ruler will be available in the markets soon.
Intel Optane Technology Webcast
Intel VP Laura Crone, along with Leszinske, hosted a webcast earlier featuring consumer feedback. These feedbacks outlined the progressive influences offered by Intel Optane technology. SSDs
Intel’s new technologies also include dual port SSDs and SATA series SSDs. Dual port Optane and 3D NAND Intel SSDs provide critical redundancies and failover. These are good enough to substitute SAS SSDs and HDDs. These can offer more bandwidth, more IOPs, and lower latency alongside a new storage facility. The series of these SSDs will be available in the markets during the 3rd quarter of this year.
