Apple’s release of an expected “iPhone 12” has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Surprisingly this has fueled the speculations regarding the next to next generation’s camera specifications.
iPhone supposedly to feature a 64 MP main shooter
An avid Twitter leaker says the iPhone 13 will feature a quad-camera setup. On top of that, it will come with a high-resolution 64 MP main shooter. The image shared by the leaker depicts the square iPhone camera, which has four lenses and a LiDAR sensor.
The leaker goes on to share the details of the camera specifications:
“iPhone 13” will feature a 64-megapixel shooter with wide lens and 1x optical zoom (6x digital zoom), 40MP telephoto lens with 3x to 5x optical zoom (15-20x digital zoom), 40MP ultra-wide with 0.25x “optical reverse zoom” and a 40MP anamorphic lens sporting a 2.1:1 ratio.
To his credit, the leaker has alerted the media that his information is speculative and should not be taken at face value.
The iPhone 11 features a 12 MP main shooter. Also, there have been rumors flying around that the iPhone 12 will introduce a 64 MP wide-angle camera. Another circulating rumor is that it includes a 3D camera technology.
Apple’s different approach
As a matter of fact is that Apple does focus on making camera improvements each year, but its approach is different. It has never been after a high pixel count. Instead of that, Apple has mainly focused on making in-sensor upgrades. It tries to execute it with software enhancements producing high-quality pictures.
Apple has been making progress in the field of videography as well. Keeping the iPhone 13 camera rumor aside experts say the following is to be expected:
Higher-end iPhone 12 models will continue to have a triple-lens camera layout. Its lower-end models will feature the dual-lens setup. And most iPhones will follow similar camera layouts in 2021. Only the more expensive models might feature more advanced camera technology.
