DuckDuckGo has got an iOS 14 Update that can now be set as Default Browser App. The latest news entails that Apple in iOS and iPadOS 14 will now be allowing third-party apps to be used as alternatives to the default mail and browser apps on iPhone and iPad,
Developers with browser and mail apps are now implementing support for the availability of updates. The privacy-focused browser DuckDuckGo is now able to be set as the default browser app on the iPhone and iPad.
This will now be serving as an alternative to Safari. With DuckDuckGo chosen as the default, links that a user taps on iPhone or iPad will open in DuckDuckGo instead of Safari.
DuckDuckGo in a blog post, says that setting the DuckDuckGo browser of default will provide default protection from trackers by blocking third-party tracking requests outright as well as offering greater privacy for web searches and browsing.
DuckDuckGo can be set as the default browser app by installing DuckDuckGo from the App Store, of Apple, opening up the Settings app, one can choose DuckDuckGo in the apps list, and then tap on Default Browser App.
Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge have also developed a platform for support for iOS 14 and can be set as default browser apps as well. There’s also a new DuckDuckGo search widget that will be available on the Home Screen and thus we need to see what these new features shall come with and offer the users.
