Apple had announced in mid-February that it would launch a new product on February 19th, 2025, and much speculation has been raised that it was the iPhone SE 4 (or iPhone 16E). While they have not made any official statement on which device it is, Apple CEO Tim Cook has suggested a product launch, calling it the “newest member of the family”. Besides that, there is no concrete timing as to when the live event or the press release announcement will go live, as the company has not provided any information on that matter as well. There have been rumors that the announcement will go live at 11:30 PM IST, on the 19th of February, 2025.
Expected specifications: iPhone SE 4 or iPhone 16E
Based on various recent reports, the device is said to come equipped with a 6.1-inch Super Retina OLED screen, a major upgrade when compared to its 2022 “Special Edition” predecessor which had a 4.7-inch LCD display. The device is also expected to come with an all-screen design, a 3,279 mAh battery, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. As for the processor, the smartphone is expected to include the more powerful Apple A18 SoC, which in turn will allow the device to support the Apple Intelligence features.
Recent leaks on X(formerly Twitter) suggest that the design of the device will be based on the iPhone 16. The statement was provided by Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial), who went on to comment that the device will not feature the Dynamic Island nor the capture button(Camera control). The packaging of the device also names it the iPhone 16E, with a frontal view that is very similar to the iPhone 16.
In terms of price, the device could amount to $499 (around 44,000 INR). Previously, the iPhone SE 3 had launched in India for a price of 43,900 INR.
iPhone 16E cases on Alibaba
As per the cases that are currently available on Alibaba, there seems to be a horizontal cutout for the single rear camera and LED flashlight, similar to the 2022 SE model. This camera here is rumored to be 48MP. The renders also show the front side having a boat-shaped notch, probably to house the 12 MP selfie camera and maybe a Face ID sensor. Another revelation is the magnetic markers on the case. This may be because the phone lacks a magnet for MagSafe support, just like the previous SE 3.
All rumors lead us to believe that this device will launch as the iPhone 16E, with its features supporting the fact. Whether or not it is true will only be known when Apple makes an official announcement on the matter. In terms of the device, it appears to pack an impressive hardware regiment and will be an excellent choice if one wants to buy an iPhone without spending a considerable fortune.
