Today, September 23rd, the Chinese smartphone brand and manufacturer, iQOO, has unveiled a new iQOO Z5, with Snapdragon 778G, 120Hz display, and 5,000 mAh battery at a launch event in China.
The new iQOO Z5 is a successor of the iQOO Z3, launched in India on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, through a virtual event.
The smartphone brings a larger 6.67-inch FHD+ IPS LCD with the same 120Hz refresh rate but now sports a punch-hole cutout for its 16MP selfie cam.
The new smartphone also has a new chipset at the helm with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G paired with 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage.
The Z5 has the same triple camera setup as the Z3, with a 64 MP main Samsung GW3 sensor, an 8MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP macro module on the back.
The battery has increased in capacity from the Z3’s 4400 mAh cell to 5,000 mAh, but charging speeds are now limited to 44W rather than 55W.
The Chinese iQOO Z5 boots Vivo’s Origin OS based on Android 11 but international units are expected to come with Funtouch OS 12 instead.
Among the other notable features are stereo speakers, a headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The iQOO Z5 is available in three colors: white, dark blue, and gradient blue. The latter has a ridged back, whereas the other two have a flat matte finish.
The 8GB+128GB model costs CNY 1,899 ($293), while the top-tier 12GB+256GB model costs CNY 2,299 ($355). A CNY 2,099 ($324) middle option with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is also available.
Pre-orders are now available in China, with official sales beginning on September 28. Later on, it will go over international availability. On September 27, iQOO plans to launch the Z5 in India.
