ISRO to launch PSLV-C50, The 52nd Mission at Chennai This December 17

This December 17th, ISRO is about to launch PSLV-C50, the 52nd mission of PSLV from Sriharikota, near Chennai. The rocket is supposed to carry a communication satellite named CMS-01 and is scheduled around 03:41 p.m., although it is entirely subject to weather conditions. Speaking on this, ISRO chairman K.Sivan commented,

…we have started this mission [PSLV-C49/EOS-01] after COVID pandemic. Now we have a series of missions on our hands. Immediately we are going to have the PSLV-C50. It is going to launch satellite CMS01 then we will be having the new vehicle SSLV, the first development flight. – K.Sivan

This communication satellite is meant for providing services Extended-C Band of the frequency spectrum to include total coverage in Indian mainland, Andaman-Nicobar, and Lakshadweep Islands. 

This 42nd communication satellite is actually a substitute for the earlier GSAT-12 and is meant for completion for up to 7 years.

Designed as a 44m engine with four compartments, it comprises six trap on motors. It has an expandable rocket filled with solid and liquid fuels for giving a high thrust during the initial flight launching procedure.

PSLV-C50 is supposed to eject CMS-01 into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO), from which it is about to make the CMS-01 position at the GTO.

As per an earlier report, ISRO Chairman K. Sivan earlier had commented that the launch is to be followed by Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) as well as Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-F10.
