Jaguar Land Rover, the British automaker, has made a pledge to electrify everything. In fact, it joins a line of established automakers in this particular pledge. By 2020, the concerned company is going to introduce only EVs (electric vehicles) and hybrids.
Today, Jaguar Land Rover announced that they would start introducing their new cars with an electric powertrain. This includes the already announced Jaguar I-Pace EV. It may also include a future Land Rover Defender. This is to aim at proving that hybrid cars can withstand all weather conditions.
Not only Jaguar Land Rover…
Similarly, in the past week, it was another British brand Aston Martin that took this pledge. Aston Martin is going to electrify all of its cars by 2025. On the other hand, the Swedish brand Volvo is looking forward to ending gas-only vehicle production. They are going to introduce cars with plug-in capability, which will begin in 2019.
In the same context, Ford sold off all three mentioned car-making companies in the late 2000s. For this, they required producing relatively fewer cars as compared to the likes of Volkswagen, Toyota, and General Motors. Consequently, it is clear that electrifying everything is an ideal way for the future to meet present emission needs.
According to Jaguar Land Rover, the company is providing consumers with more options by electrifying each of its future products. This will attract more buyers as well.
