In the last few years, the American moble giant Apple has been steadily striving to give its consumers the optimal user experience by providing them with the best iPhone camera through an innovative photographic optical zoom named periscope lens.
Over the years, Samsung has been the major supplier of all Apple’s iPhone folded zoom camera modules. However, it is learned that the American mobile giant has found a new periscope lens supplier, Jahwa Electronics, to replace Samsung’s zoom camera modules.
Previously, Apple has officially announced that by 2023 all its iPhones will feature new optical image stabilization (OIS) actuators by a new supplier, but didn’t name the supplier.
However, in recent developments, the South Korean electronics, Jahwa, has expanded its production and invested about $155.7 million in new facilities to supply future Apple iPhone periscope lens components for optimal user experience.
Although Apple has not officially announced Jahwa Electronics as a periscope lens supplier, speculations have revealed that the South Korean electronics will be the new Apple’s optical image stabilization (OIS) actuator.
The optical image stabilization (OIS) actuators in the newly released Samsung Galaxy S22 were supplied by Jahwa Electronics. Consequently, this might woo Apple to try the OIS manufacturer.
Similarly, Jahwa investing about $155.7 million in new facilities to expand and produce optical image stabilization actuators meant that the firm had secured Apple’s future iPhone periscope lens but had yet to publicize the same.
Therefore, if the speculations turn to be true, Jahwa’s OIS actuators are the pivotal piece of the periscope camera lens system that Apple reportedly aims to give future iPhones a greater zoom feature by 2023.
With the greater zoom feature, Apple wants to increase the amount of space a lens can make within a confined area by taking advantage of how light reflects. This is somewhat similar to the principles used for a submarine’s periscope but purely for altering the path of light for future iPhones.
