The official Minecraft website has announced that the launch date of the closed beta version of Minecraft Earth for iOS is only a fortnight away and the Android version will be launched soon after.
The closed beta of the Minecraft Earth will allow the participation of only a limited number of people from pre-selected locations.
Those interested in getting a chance to be chosen as one of the closed beta testers of this AR game can still sign themselves up, only if they fulfil the following prerequisites: the age of the participant should be at least 18 years, and the participant’s phone must run on either Android 7.0 Nougat or iOS 10.
Other than that, participants need to input their Microsoft or Xbox Live account.
Signing up would gain players exclusive skin.
An invitation email would go out to the chosen participants who have to take on the responsibility of playing Minecraft Earth at least once every 7 days. If a chosen participant is unable to do so, their spot would go to a more active participant.
While the various features of the game develop and get tested, the participants’ progress in the game will be occasionally reset.
Minecraft Earth is an upcoming augmented reality (AR) sandbox mobile game developed by Mojang based on the video game Minecraft.
Featuring ‘Tappables’ (things that have to be tapped on screen to gather rewards) and ‘Adventures’ (mini-games linked to specific real-world locations), the Minecraft Earth will be a free-to-play game that will map in-game elements to the real world.
