CEO of X, Elon Musk has reopened the lawsuit he had filed against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman. The basic argument that encapsulates his lawsuit is basically about how OpenAI has been prioritising profits and commercial interests over the issue of public interest. Therefore this has resulted in a full scale OpenAI controversy questioning the company’s goodwill.
The lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO Altman also entails how the company violates the privacy of consumers by choosing to provide an exclusive license to Microsoft for the technology. Musk had previously withdrawn his lawsuit at a court in California citing the reason of the breach of contract. He also mentioned that the case had abandoned its initial aspect of benifiting the consumers.
Musk has critiqued OpenAI openly as a brand, specifically its new partnership with tech giant Apple. He has further stated that if Apple followed the procedure of integration with OpenAI , he would impose a ban on his company from using any devices that has been manufactured by Apple. This was said the day before he withdrew his case against OpenAI, which makes this situation very unpredictable.
The lawsuit is filed allegedly on the claims that OpenAI had been violating an agreement it hade entered into with Elon Musk and other founding members of the companies. They had initially made a pledge to keep OpenAI as a nonprofit company without violation public consumer interest. Therefore we can only hope for a speedy resolution to this detailed controversy.
