Facebook recently rebranded itself and is now known as Meta. This move was in the plan for a long time, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced the new name for the social media platform formerly known as Facebook.
After this significant change, there are a few rumors that Facebook might be developing a smartwatch. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this smartwatch is that it will be able to take photos and videos. Various reputed news media outlets, such as Bloomberg, revealed an image of the said smartwatch, which shows the device comes with rounded corners. This face design is very similar to the Apple Watch. However, the Meta smartwatch also has a notch and a front-facing camera. App developer Steve Moser found the image of the smartwatch inside the company’s app, which is used to control its Ray-Ban Stories AR sunglasses. It could also mean that the app could also be used to control the watch in the future.
Apart from having rounded corners and a camera on its front, the smartwatch also features a stainless steel case and detachable straps. Moser has pointed out that the code inside the app indicates that the upcoming Meta smartwatch could be called Milan. If the smartwatch can capture photos and videos, it only makes sense that those images could be sharable or downloadable on a smartphone.
Some reports have indicated that the smartwatch can launch as early as 2022; however, the launch date or time frame can vary since nothing has been officially revealed. On the other hand, Facebook’s parent company is also working on three generations of products which are slotted for launch at three different times. Moreover, earlier this year, a few reports claimed that Facebook is working on a smartwatch equipped with a front-facing and a 1080p camera with autofocus.
