Twitter account Tech Tipster on August 19 revealed that Lenovo ThinkPad X1 and Lenovo Yoga Pro 13s are going to be introduced to the market soon. Marketed as the world’s first foldable PC, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 notebook is eagerly awaited.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1
Designed to deliver the dual experience of laptop efficiency with mobile mobility, this 13.3-inch OLED display device is foldable from the middle to enhance a traditional notebook feel.
The resolution of the display panel of the latest Lenovo device is 2048 x 1536 pixels (The same as a 9.7-inch iPad). But, in the X1 there will be a mechanical hinge to aid the folding.
According to Lenovo, work for the ThinkPad X1 has been going on for more than four years. The company has explored six hinge designs and four primary laptop designs to create a reliable, durable, and convenient foldable laptop.
The ThinkPad can fold out into a two-sided display. One side will be used as a touchscreen keyboard (attachable physical keyboard possible), and the other side will be the screen itself. The laptop can be used at various angles, including the 90-degree angle.
Lenovo established partnerships with LG Display and Intel to address manufacturing and flexible display issues and hinge related challenges respectively.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 can be used in Portrait mode to draw or take notes with the Active Pen. The screen can also be flattened completely for a tablet experience and can be bent a little to give the feeling of reading a book.
A USB Type-C port allows the laptop to be connected with a mouse, keyboard, or second display. A folding stand has been made to help keep the device in landscape or portrait mode for a desktop feel. An attachable Bluetooth Mini fold keyboard has been created to support time-consuming typing.
As per the Lenovo website, the ThinkPad X1 has narrow bezels that frame the display, three heat spreaders that distribute the heat generated from internal components to maintain ideal temperature throughout, a leather folio hat that provides a stylish aesthetic and also includes a functional design element – a stand for holding the laptop upright.
Initially, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is equipped with Windows 10, although there are plans to bring Windows 10X later for a better foldable ThinkPad experience. The Windows 10X was revealed last year at the Microsoft Surface Neo and is aimed specifically at dual-screen and foldable devices.
Although the final price is still not known, it is expected to be around Rs. 1,79,400 or $2,499. While we await the official release date, the expectations of this mobile-tablet-laptop experience are high.
Lenovo Yoga Pro 13s
The launch of Lenovo Yoga Pro 13s has been announced on Lenovo’s Yoga channel on Weibo. Although the teaser does not offer much information, it confirms that the device is less than 1 kg. It is a high-performance gadget, has white design, a high-resolution display, and is made of carbon material. Details such as price, availability and specs have not been revealed. Speculations suggest that Lenovo may announce more details about the Yoga Pro 13s soon.
