Lenovo Z5 has already raised bars of expectations for being a truly bezel-less smartphone. Rumors suggested earlier that it would launch on June 14, but the company VP Chang Cheng recently said the launch date is June 5 via Weibo.
The launch of the phone revives Lenovo’s Z series that would offer a ‘cleaner and near stock Android experience as compared to other Android smartphones of the brand. Cheng’s been teasing the phone on Weibo for quite a while now.
The renders he shared do not show any bezels surrounding the screen of the Lenovo Z5. It’s been further confirmed that it will not feature a notch and neither a bottom chin. The idea is to come up with a phone that presents an all-display appearance on the front.
According to the company, Z5 will have a screen-to-body ratio that’s higher than 95%. One of the highlighting features is that it is slated to offer 4 TB of storage space, which is a huge leap compared to the standard highest storage offering of 256 GB by most smartphones of today.
This also ensures that the device will be available with a dedicated microSD card slot. It might even come up with two card slots, each offering 2 TB. In this context, Smartisan Nut R1 is offering 1 TB of internal storage, and Z5 wanting to compete, might already have 2 TB internal storage, with the remaining 2 TB offered via one card slot.
Among other expected features, Z5 will pack Snapdragon 845 coupled with 6 GB or 8 GB RAM. Although, there’s no official confirmation yet. There are questions about the device housing a front camera on the bezel-less front panel. The leaked renders do not show any camera, microphone or other sensors on the front.
While ‘truly bezel-less design is the main focus, Cheng also mentioned on Weibo that Z5 would offer 30 minutes of talk time for free. Additionally, he shared samples of shots taken by the camera, which are impressive but definitely not the best in the market.
