Google Assistant will now be available on LG AI TV line-up. An official announcement regarding this was made by the company at CES 2018. With ThinQ AI, LG promise to deliver cutting-edge AI features. Without the need for any additional hardware, these features can be operated directly through the TV’s remote control.
In order to bring convenience and control to users, Google Assistant combines with LG’s award-winning webOS-based ThinQ AI. With an objective to deliver an innate AI experience, LG ThinQ AI enables the use of natural language commands which further control TV functions. Not only this, with the use of Google Assistant, a user can manage daily tasks, access information, and control compatible smart home devices.
The unique ThinQ AI users can immediately connect to external gaming consoles and soundbars. LG further stated that AI TV could perform hundreds of voice commands by using companies’ own open smart platform with the built-in Google Assistant.
LG AI-enabled TVs, within no time, can retrieve information required or switch to a channel that offers the content requested by viewers. Users can even learn more about their desired films by simply saying the character or actor’s name. The user just needs to simply hold the mic button and ask for his required information.
With the Google Assistant now available natively in 2018 LG AI TVs, I believe we’re going to see a whole new level of AI adoption in the home, LG’s unique partnership with Google allows us to be the first TV brand to offer the Google Assistant on our own OS which is a huge benefit for customers who are fans of webOS. With great partners like Google, we expect there to be many more exciting AI news to come from LG. – Brian Kwon, President of LG’s Home Entertainment Company
This smart technology may offer access to devices such as robotic vacuum cleaners, thermostats, air purifiers, smart lighting devices, and other such appliances. Recently Google Assistant has been working with more than 5000 smart devices by hundreds of popular brands.
LG will launch this ThinQ AI with Google assistant in their upcoming LG OLED TV and LG SUPER UHD TVs. Expected to launch in starting May in the US with key markets in Europe and Asia.
