LG CNS will offer artificial intelligence (AI) powered language learning programs to students in Seoul in partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SOME). LG CNS has predicted that under this scholarship, about 800,000 elementary, middle, and high school students will benefit from studying English in regular classes and extracurricular activities.

LG has named the new programs “AI Tutor” and “Speaking Class”, and the company’s IT service firm is responsible for its execution. Both the above-mentioned programs will be free of cost and will be offered to 1300 schools in Seoul. The AI Tutor is a smartphone app-based English learning program that is expected to have almost 760,000 users. Not only LG but other companies are also using the app for their employees so that they can learn English. LG CNS, on the other hand, has also planned to sell the AI Tutor app to language teaching firms based in South Korea, such as YBMNET and Pagoda. The app is the first AI-based English learning program to receive certification from the Korea Associate of Teachers of English earlier this year.

The other program called Speaking Class will be useful to the teachers also. The teachers can use the app to create English learning programs with AI conversation algorithms and voice recognition technology. Moreover, the app will create English-related problems for the students. The most interesting fact about this platform is that the teachers need not know coding language to create lesson plans on this platform.

The platform will also analyze the student’s data to show how much the student has progressed. The algorithm can also identify the student’s weaknesses if they have any and subsequently provide tips for their improvement.

LG CNS is also developing an AI Tutor app with the Seoul education office to help children of multi-racial families learn Korean.
