LG Display To Increase Its OLED Productions for Supplying Apple

LG Display is apparently all set to grow the production rate of its OLED panel factory lines. Almost all of the LG displays have always had a good rating and quality usage.

LG is one of the most known manufacturers of displays, along with Samsung. The new extension in the manufacturing of OLED displays is mainly to provide the company Apple with displays. Apple is not a display manufacturer in the sense that LG and Samsung are.

LG, reportedly, is going to expand its E6-1 and E6-2 factory lines in Paju, South Korea. Here, LG Display will set up low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LPTO) thin-film transistors (TFT) equipment that can add about 25,000 substrates per month within the monthly production rate into the lines by 2021.

The same low-temperature polycrystalline oxide would be able to add 5,000 substrates per month in the production rate, which, according to news reports, is already being installed. By this calculation, by May 2021 almost 10,000 substrates will be added, and the following month will witness the inclusion of another 10,000 substrates in the following month.

The suppliers responsible for the equipment are on stand by awaiting instructions from the LG corporation for the orders for the upcoming May deliveries.

Apple is reliant on LG and other display manufacturers for display screens. The latest order for displays will be used for Apple’s high-end iPhone models scheduled to launch in 2021.

Reportedly, the California-based smartphone giant is planning on using the LTPO TFT panels for its upcoming iPhone models. The company has already used the low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) TFT process and is adding an oxide TFT process. LG will supply the panels to Apple; LG is also likely to supply the panels for two of the four iPhone models scheduled to launch next year.
