Today, February 22, LG, in its newsroom blog, provided specification details of its K8 and K10 lineups of mobiles that are to be announced at the Mobile World Congress this year. Both the devices are defined as ‘mass-tier’ smartphones and will be packing premium features competitive with premium flagships.
LG will start the rollout of both models in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America and states that these would be ‘price-friendly.’ The K series is on its way to attracting markets for its ‘host of advanced camera features like noise reduction for enhanced low-light photos and high-speed autofocus.
Both K8 and K10 bear the glossy pebble appearance that’s the signature of the series. The design consists of 2.5D Arc Glass showcasing a modern and seamless look with an evergreen feel. Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, and Terra Gold are the three color variants for both models.

The latest LG K8 model will pack a 1.3GHz quad-core processor chip with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal, being 32GB expandable by microSD. The display is 5.0-inch HD On-cell Touch supporting 1280 x 720p resolution. It runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat and has a removable battery of 2,500 mAh. The device measures 146.3 x 73.2 x 8.2mm, weighing 152 grams. The cameras are 8 MP rear and 5 MP front, with Auto Shot, Gesture Shot, Selfie Flash, Quick Share, Flash Jump Shot, and Quick Shutter features. Other specs include Quick Capture, Music Flash, Time Helper, and Bluetooth 4.2.
The newest LG K10 gets you a 1.5GHz octa-core chipset with the display of a 5.3-inch HD In-cell Touch, supporting the same resolution as K8. Measuring 148.7 x 75.3 x 8.68mm and weighing 162 grams, it runs the same OS. The embedded battery is of 3,000 mAh. The device bears a fingerprint scanner that’s rather a Smart Rear Key, triggering Quick Shutter for photos and Quick Capture of screenshots.
K10 has three memory variants: 3GB+32GB for K10+, 2GB+16GB for K10 and 2GB+16GB for K10α. K10+ and K10 are packing 13 MP rear and 8 MP or 5 MP front cameras with a wide-angle lens. K10α has a rear 8 MP and front 5 MP camera. The shutterbugs of the model are equipped with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology that enables 23% faster autofocus than its traditional counterpart.
The Flash Jump Shot of the K series camera can take snaps every 3 seconds, providing you with a shareable GIF stitching the images. Both models’ front or rear cameras can be used to enjoy this feature. The HDR camera feature, again for both models, can provide sharper images with added contrast levels and luminosity.
