LG is the first-ever company to have successfully developed a 5G mobile cloud game alongside NVIDIA. LG U+ will showcase the game, GeForce NOW meant for release in Korea exclusively in early September.

NVIDIA is the world’s first cloud game service, and its pairing up with LG U+ meant that sooner or later there had to be a cloud game. The GeForce NOW will be the world’s first Android version of the cloud game.

With the advent of cloud games, GeForce NOW being the first of its kind, now there is no need to download high-performance games. Those particular games can now be streamed online in seconds. This functionality is not exclusively meant for 5G smartphones, and people with PCs and laptops will still get the same benefits on the devices they own.

However, the LG U+ 5G customers will be privileged to have some extra benefits. With LG U+ and NVIDIA, the LG U+ 5G users can enjoy 150 kinds of high-performance PC and console games, ranging from Fortnite to League of Legends on their smartphones. LG also promised to expand the number of games available to 200 by the end of this year.

We will make GeForceNow a specialized service that knows whether to use LG Uplus 5G – Lee Sang-min, head of LG Uplus FC

In order to ensure that the process of streaming the games is seamless, LG U+ has applied Adaptive Streaming to GeForce NOW which uses about 6GB data per hour. For the vivid graphics, LG is using NVIDIA ray tracing technology.

Latentity is important for high-performance game users – Kim Seung-gyu, the representative of Nvidia Korea

Games which had been purchased previously from various platforms can still be played at GeForce NOW. Customers who have an active 5G premium plan can get the GeForce NOW until 31st October.

The percentage of games used by 5G unlimited data customers is over 50% – Son Min-sun, LG Uplus’s 5G new service manager

According to this data, the market for GeForce NOW is already more than enough.
