The 65-inch TV that made its appearance in 2018 CES will turn into a consumer product in 2019. LG Electronics Inc. plans to begin selling big-screen TVs next year that can be rolled up and put away like a poster, the centerpiece of an effort to revive an ailing business.
The 65-inch TVs will retract automatically at the touch of a button like a garage door, remarked by an anonymous person who is familiar with the matter. This would also allow ease of mobility and space saving. The folding OLED display is capable of delivering crisp 4K resolution and can be retracted at the touch of a button.
Along with the rollable TV, it is to also come up with other OLED products as well. It is clear that the company is reportedly trying to revive a declining business affected by “price declines and stiffening Chinese competition.” LG is also working on 5G in 2019 that is scheduled to launch in MWC 2019.
LG is anticipated to launch its first-ever commercial rollable TV in 2019, although there is no word on the exact date. Past reports suggest LG will announce the TV at CES 2019 in January.
