The professional networking platform called LinkedIn announced on December 2, 2021, that a new user interface will be available in Hindi. With this new initiative, the company hopes to support almost 600 million Hindu language speakers globally.
“We have witnessed high engagement and member growth in the last year, and it is at this exciting inflection point that we are strengthening our vision to create economic opportunity for ‘every’ member of the workforce, and taking down language barriers for Hindi speakers across the world,” – Ashutosh Gupta, India Country Manager, LinkedIn said in a statement.
Starting on December 2nd, the members of the platform will be able to access their feed, profile, jobs, etc on their Android and iOS smartphones in Hindi. This is only the first phase of the rollout, and as its next step, LinkedIn will continue to add more Hindi publishers and creators in the upcoming weeks.
The users who are interested in accessing the app in Hindi need to select Hindi in their preferred device language under their phone settings. For those who already use Hindi as their preferred language on their smartphones, the app will automatically be available in Hindi. On the desktop, the users need to click on the ‘Me’ icon, then go to ‘Settings and Privacy’ to access ‘Account Preferences’ and then go to ‘Site Preferences, and select ‘Change’ next to ‘Language’, and select ‘Hindi’ from the drop-down list.
India is the second-largest market for LinkedIn in terms of members, after the US, with almost 82 million members. In the past three years, LinkedIn has seen a growth of 20+ million users in India which accounts for 15 percent year-over-year growth. Furthermore, the company claims that the website has seen a spike in engagement and conversations after the pandemic.
