The Long March 2D carrier rocket launched the Beijing-3 satellite on June 11 from the Taiyuan Satellite Center. The carrier is taking the Haiti-2 satellite, the Wangwang-1 satellite, and the space test 1 Tianjian satellite. Reports claimed that the launch event was a success. The Eighth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group developed the normal temperature liquid two-stage carrier rocket. The Chang Er Ding test team used the eight-institute carrier rocket for the first time.
The Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Co., Ltd. of the Fifth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group developed the Beijing-3 satellite. The most interesting aspect of this satellite is that it can quickly obtain high-quality, high-res ground images. It does not come as a surprise since the satellite is based on the CAST3000E agile satellite platform, which employs ultra-high agility, and stability along with ultra-high precision technology and on-orbit image processing.
Once the satellite reaches its designated orbit, it can send back a significant number of high-res remote sensing satellite data which will immensely help the global market; furthermore, it will also provide spatial information support for land and resources management, agricultural resource surveys, ecological environment monitoring, and comprehensive urban applications, that is to say, its implications span large categories.
The Haiti-2 satellite was jointly invested in and developed by Aerospace Dongfanghong and Xiamen University. It bears the responsibility of observing the ecological environment of shallow coastal seas and inland water bodies. It can also prove to be a valuable asset for marine research in the future. Other than that, it can also serve local economic and social development along with fighting disasters.
The Yangwang-1 satellite was developed by Shenzhen Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Co., Ltd. It is the very first commercial satellite that is carrying visible light and ultra-violet large field of view telescope payload. It will be focused on various asteroid targets, orbit determination and using the large-field telescopes it will conduct multi-band survey observations while carrying out ultraviolet Astronomical observation and research on related astronomical phenomena.
The Space Test No. 1 Tianjian satellite will carry out the various tests and verify the new technology of satellite intelligent health management. The Space Test No. 1 Tianjian is a brainchild of the University of Aerospace Engineering, the 805 Research Institute of the Aerospace Science and Technology group.
